Abu Dhabi's KALIMA translates book of Nobel Laureate in Physics

Abu Dhabi's KALIMA project announced publishing the translation of Niels Bohr's 'Atomic Theory and the Description of Nature' into Arabic. The book deals with atomic theory and mechanics; the quantum postulate and the recent development of atomic theory; the quantum of action and the description of nature; and the atomic theory and the fundamental principles underlying the description of nature.

'The focus on the translation of the most important scientific books is one of the fundamental goals of KALIMA, because these kinds of books support scientific research in the Arab World,' said Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Director of KALIMA.

'It also emphasises the diversity of the objectives KALIMA, which seeks the revival of the movement of translating works in foreign languages in all fields into Arabic,' he added.

KALIMA, a translation initiative by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), seeks to provide Arab readers with the latest publications in the international scene. It seeks to translate at least 100 books every year from world languages into Arabic.

The book was translated into Arabic by Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Samahi, Professor of Physical Chemistry, assisted by Dr. Fatahalla Al Shaikh, Professor of Physical Chemistry. Both translators had authored books on science.

Niels Bohr (1885 -1962) was a Danish physicist who made fundamental contributions to understanding atomic structure and quantum mechanics, for which he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922. Bohr mentored and collaborated with many of the top physicists of the century at his institute in Copenhagen.
